Frequently Asked Questions
Where and when will the program meet?
Classes will take place at Anshai Torah this year on Sundays from 10 AM-12 PM. High school students will have their own separate space to learn and hang out.
Will there be food?
Yes! Each morning we’ll start with a hot breakfast or bagels.
Who is teaching?
Classes will be taught by rabbis from Anshai Torah, Beth Torah, and Shearith Israel in addition to experienced Jewish educators and facilitators.
What will my teen be learning?
Learning will take place over two 45-minute sessions. The first class will be grade specific—each covering a progression of topics: Zionism and Israeli History, Genealogy and Family History, Jewish Identity and Big Ideas, Jewish Life on Campus and Israel Advocacy. During the second session, 9th-12th graders will pick from a number of fun electives like Israeli Film, Fifty Shades of Talmud, Jewish Musicals and Plays, or Kosher Cooking and Cuisine.
Can my teen earn volunteer hours?
Yes! We will be meeting, during regular hours, 6 times off site to participate in social justice projects around the Dallas area.
How much is the program?
$695 for the year, not including trips. Cost of the trips will be announced later in the year and will be subsidized for members of Anshai Torah, Beth Torah, and Shearith Israel.
Do I have to be a member of a synagogue for my teen to participate?
Though we encourage you to consider joining one of our communities, the program is open to all Jewish teens in Dallas.
My younger kids go to Religious School in a different location. Is there transportation available?
Please let us know if this is an issue for you. We’d be happy to help arrange carpools/rides.
What about Confirmation or Graduation?
Synagogues that offer confirmation will be in touch about specific requirements to participate in their own congregational celebration at the end of the year, as well as time to prepare with their individual rabbi. Please ask your Director of Education for more details.
